Debbie's small holding is just three miles from the Red Lion Inn she supplies both our pubs with wonderful free range pork. Her pigs enjoy a natural GM-free diet, and have shelter with deep straw bed, logs to scratch against, tyres for toys and occasional treats.
Mick Smith - Kings Road Bakery, Melton Mowbray
Our Pumpkin seed/Rearsby style loaf is produced here at Micks craft bakery every day from Sean’s own recipe. The bread is made with local honey, malt extract, toasted pumpkin seeds and wholemeal flour from Whissendine Mill halfway between the Red Lion Inn and The Olive Branch.
Jan McCourt - Northfield Farm, Cold Overton, Oakham
Jan is as passionate about his livestock as Sean is about cooking. Northfeild Farm is the inspiration behind our full English Breakfast and the revival of the great British pub classic “Mixed Grill” all our main ingredients are sourced here. They also have a wonderfull farm shop which is definitely worth a visit.
David and Jo Clarke - Leicestershire Handmade Cheese Co.
Red Leicester
David & Jo have a herd of 150 pedigree Holstein Friesian cattle, which produce the milk to make the only Red Leicester made in Leicestershire. The cheeses are made from a traditional recipe using an ingredient called annatto to give it that rich fantastic colour, moulded into traditional wheels, pressed for 24 hrs then matured for a further 4 1/2 months at 10 degrees.
Grasmere Farm, Marketing Deeping
This great pork farm and butchers have supplied us with our Lincolnshire Pork Sausages since day one and we have always had them on the menu. Along with Sean they have also created a great Pork Pie with some stilton through just to give that little added bit. You will find Grasmere at all the local Farmers Markets and events.
Tim Shaw - Melton Mowbray Cheeseboard
Melton Mowbray really is the food capital of the East Midlands and this great little cheese shop has the most amazing selection of perfectly kept cheeses and if you can't visit the shop there is a great on-line shop. Tim really is an expert, and like Sean is soon to appear on BBC2's Hairy Bikers, he provides us with the local cheeses that feature on our cheese selections at the Red Lion and The Olive Branch.
Anne Botterill - Lings View Farm, Croxton Kerrial
A traditional farming practice, family run, rearing geese in the traditional way, we always celebrate Christmas at the Red Lion Inn and The Olive Branch with one or two of Anne's birds. We are also able to take orders and prepare and supply them to our customers for Christmas. "Free range, unstressed birds can be grown only with the right balance of diet and exercise. And I believe the grass they eat contributes to the great flavour of the meat"
