Dog Point Wines, which we adore at The Olive Branch, come from a vineyard in Marlborough’s Wairau Valley.
Using a ‘hands-on’ approach on the 80-hectare Dog Point Vineyard, the founders launched the Dog Point label in February 2004 – since making their name as one of the most prestigious producers within New Zealand.
Dog Point operates under the New Zealand Sustainable Winegrowing Programme, beginning the process of organic conversion in 2009. A flock of 2,000 sheep and 25 steers graze on the land to keep the grass low and fertilise as they go. After pruning, all the cuttings are mulched, composted and spread under the vines to conserve moisture and improve soil structure.
