Thursday 14 September
Hosted by Roelof Lotriet, wine maker for Delheim Wine Estate, and local wine supplier Johnny Bingham from Delibo Wine Agencies, this is an opportunity to discover the fantastic wines from high on the slopes of Simonsberg Mountain, 50km from Cape Town.
The Delehim Wine Estate is a family owned vineyard whereby the Sperling family have been making wines of character for many decades. They produce a range of award-winning wines, led by the majestic Grande Reserve, which since its release in 1981 has been honoured with much prestigious recognition. Their ever popular Pinotage Rose (the 1st of its kind to be produced in South Africa in 1976) and the quirky Spatzendreck dessert wine are just some of the other favourites which have helped to turn Delheim into a household name.
A holistic approach to community and land, to wine making and to ensuring good business practices is what sustains Delheim. Their aim has always been to nurture a strong culture of sustainable development on the farm and within the community that grows and works together on the Deheim Estate.
Our kitchen team has created a seasonal menu to match the wines and will prepare and cook all the dishes.
The evening starts on the terrace (weather permitting) at 7pm an opportunity to meet and mingle with other guests. At 7.30 we all sit down for dinner, around the Barn table or on individual tables in the pub if you prefer, with wines to accompany each course,
On the night, Roelof will guide us through the wines, explaining the different styles, grape varieties and winemaking methods that make each of these wines so different and so special.
It is probably best to have booked a taxi home. However, you are welcome to leave your car here overnight or book one of our six luxurious rooms at Beech House.
We are sure you will have an enjoyable evening, with good food, great wines and convivial company, and hopefully you will have learned something about the magic of wine.
