Wednesday 17 October

Hosted by local wine supplier Charles Hawkins and Kathy Jordan.

Since 1993, the maiden vintage at Jordan, both Kathy & husband Gary have been hands-on and intimately involved in all aspects of winemaking, marketing and the development of the family estate.Kathy is committed to elevating the profile of woman in the wine business through her Women in Wine Initiative, started in 2013 with the help of Jancis Robinson.

Gary and Kathy Jordan have been making world-class wines since 1993 on a farm with a history going back over 300 years. Gary’s parents, Ted and Sheelagh, bought the 146 hectare Stellenbosch property in 1982, and embarked on an extensive replanting programme, specialising in classic varieties suited to the different soils and slopes. Unique by nature’s design, the Jordan slopes face North, South, East and West, with vineyards lying at differing altitudes from 160 to 410 m above sea level. The vineyards benefit from their close proximity to both the Indian and Atlantic Oceans and enjoy a mild, Mediterranean climate with a maritime influence.

Not only has Kathy (along with husband Gary) taken their family run Jordan Winery from strength to strength, she is also one of the original inspirations for launching Women in Wine London (having started a mentoring programme for women working in the South African wine industry). What's more, the winemaking duo own the London restaurant High Timber and 2015 saw the start of a new venture on Jordan Wine Estate – the establishment of the Jordan Luxury Suites.

Our Head Chef Chris and his team will prepare and cook all the dishes. Kathy will introduce the wines she has chosen to match the dishes and will be happy to answer questions throughout the evening.

The evening starts at 7pm with an opportunity to meet our host and mingle with other guests. At 7.30pm we sit down around one large table in the ‘Barn’ for the dinner with wines to accompany each course.

It is probably best to have booked a taxi home. However, you are welcome to leave your car here overnight or book one of our 6 luxurious rooms at Beech House.

We are sure you will have an enjoyable evening, with good food, great wines and convivial company, and hopefully you will have learned something about the magic of wine.
