TOKARA WINE DINNER

Hosted by Karl Lambour of Tokara and local wine supplier Charles Hawkins from ABS.

An opportunity to discover the wonderful wines of Tokara. At the centre of the Cape Winelands lies the Simonsberg mountain, home to exceptional vineyards since the 17th century. On the southern slopes, with unrivalled views over False Bay to Table Mountain,
you will find Tokara’s vineyards and olive groves.

Tokara is a picture-perfect destination that offers visitors a unique combination of award-winning wines, brandy and olive oils, a gallery of fine art, a restaurant featuring one of South Africa’s leading chefs and a delicatessen. Even though vineyards were initially planted on the southern slopes of the Simonsberg Mountain at the Stellenbosch property, two other farms, Highlands in the Elgin district and Siberia in the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley near Hermanus, were additionally acquired. As a result, Tokara is able to produce wines that express the distinct characteristics of these three prime wine-producing regions.

Karl will guide us through the wines, explaining the different styles, grape varieties and winemaking methods that make each of these wines so different and so special.

Our head chef Luke Holland has created a seasonal menu to match the wines and with his team will prepare, cook and present all the dishes.

The evening starts at 7pm with an opportunity to meet our host and mingle with other guests. At 7.30pm we sit down around one large table in the ‘Barn’ for the dinner, with wines to accompany each course.

It is probably best to have booked a taxi home. However, you are welcome to leave your car here overnight or book one of our six luxurious rooms at Beech House.

We are sure you will have an enjoyable evening, with good food, great wines and convivial company, and hopefully you will have learned something about the magic of wine.
