Ca'Rugate Rio Albo 2018, Valpolicella DOC, Veneto, Italy
Red fruits, ripe blackberry and deep cherry flavours, a hint of spice, with a velvety texture. Simply charming.
Blend - Corvina 45%, Corvinone 40%, Rondinella 15%. Each variety was vinified separately. The grapes were fermented on their skins for a period of seven to 10 days, releasing the flavours and extracting the colour during the process. The wine was blended and then matured in stainless steel tanks in order to preserve the integrity of the primary aromas and varietal characteristics of the blend.
Producer - Ca’ Rugate takes its name from the hill where it stands, in the Soave Classico zone of the province of Verona, where the majority of the vineyards belonging to the Tessari family are sited. The business has been in the family’s hands for four generations, and now includes 90 hectares altogether, between Soave Classico, Valpolicella and Lessini Durello.
Alcohol Percentage - 12.5%
Awards - 90 Pts, James Suckling, 2019
